
A Shell account is an account which gives one network access by way of dialing
in to another machine, often a UNIX machine, which gives you access to those WWW
services it has selected and a preset amount of disk storage.

Detail:
One of the disadvantages of a shell account is that when you download files, you are
transferring them to space on the remote machine and they must later be moved to your
own machine. However, a shell account has the advantage of being less expensive other
types of connection to the WWW.
